Do you have an External or Internal Locus of Control?
‘Locus of Control’ is an individuals belief system with regards to the causes of their experiences and the factors to which that person attributes success or failure.
The concept of locus of control is divided into two categories: internal and external. Take this quick assessment to find out what type of locus of control you have.
You have an Internal Locus of Control
When it comes to your achievements and failures, you tend to attribute them internally, or in other words, you claim responsibility for them and believe that your actions have influenced the outcome of the situation. You don't necessarily believe in luck or fate, and believe that your actions are completely within your control.
You have an External Locus of Control
When it comes to your success and failures, you tend to attribute them to external factors and believe what happens to you is out of your control. You often put the outcomes of your actions down to luck, fate or the action of others.
I often feel that I have little control over my life and what happens to me.
If you work hard and commit yourself to a goal, you can achieve anything.
There is no such thing as fate or destiny.
People rarely get what they deserve.
If you study hard and are well-prepared, you can do well on exams.
Life is a game of chance.
Individuals have little influence over the events of the world.
Luck has little to do with success; it's mostly a matter of dedication and effort.
